The garden press is raving about the ‘Easy Does It’ rose, giving it all kinds of accolades including “the seductress of the garden”. Introduced just last year, ‘Easy Does It’ might be hard to find. But if you do score one, you will find this rose has many fine attributes, making it a standout specimen. ‘Easy Does It’ roses are fragrant, disease resistant, vigorous, full of flowers and just downright fabulous.
Grow an easy care rose reminiscent of the Peace Rose in sweltering south?
Gardening can be a sentimental pursuit, reminding us of our gardening ancestors. When we move to a new part of the country, we can’t always grow what our mothers or grandmas grew. Many southern gardeners have all but given up growing roses, frustrated with battling bugs and diseases.
Having given up growing roses in Florida years ago, I was intrigued when I spotted this rose at a local nursery. The blossom reminded me of a climbing Peace Rose my mother had when I was a child. The flower is a bit smaller than the Peace Rose and the petals are scalloped, garnering additional floral energy. I am currently testing “Easy Does It”, the 2010 AARS award (All American Rose Selection). After two months of searing heat, my “Easy Does It” Rose is thriving.
Developed by rose breeder Harkness in the UK, this rose is so gorgeous you would think it would be impossible to grow in a hot and humid climate.
Free-flowing sunset shades palette
Easy Does It sports colors of mango orange, peach pink & ripe apricot which bounce off glossy green leaves, providing a flamboyant burst of color for the landscape. Her free-flowing sunset shades palette show up in fragrant large colorful clusters atop a rounded bushy plant.
‘Easy Does It’ is a Floribunda rose (compact bushes that bloom in clusters) that can be used in hedges, borders, mass plantings or may be planted in containers as a specimen plant. Growing this rose is easy, finding more is proving to be the difficult part.

Ok. Srsly. Give it up. Where did you find yours? Someplace local?
I’ll give this one a try…though I’m not the gardener my Ohio peeps and relatives are/were. Where to get them? Is this a plant to find at nurseries? Deb
I will see what I can do, shaking the nursery trees. It is a tough time to try to get nurseries to do big orders. You might want to try Carroll Brother’s Nursery on 38th Ave N in St Petersburg to see if they can get these roses.
gorgeous!! I want to try these….
any luck on locating these roses?
